| Still another General? From the beginning, Marecek realized Sitman would have heavy helicopter traffic. The camp had a great deal of overhead commo wire; pilots would have to see it. How could we mark it? Marecek decided to hang red liscense plate-sized markers from the wire, and had a couple of hundred made in the vill. The question then became, "How do we attach them to the wire?" Frick had the answer: "Grenade pins." So one sunny afternoon, LTs Frick and Jamison drew a half-dozen cases (@ 2 dozen per case) of Mark 26 fragmentation grenades, found a rock they could rest their backs against, and spent the rest of the day lazily pulling pins and tossing grenades over their shoulders. |
