Story of Camp Sitman

Camp Sitman was constructed in the fall of 1965 to house the cadre, support personnel and students of the Advanced Combat Training Academy (ACTA). The facility was located north of the Imjin in the Spoonbill area, adjacent to RC3. Cadre moved into this tent city on 10 November, and classes began 2 December. The above photograph was taken in November, 1965. Enlisted Cadre were housed in the GP Medium tents at the top of the hill, center to the right. Officers occupied the octagonal squad tents immediately below. Students were assigned to the GP Mediums at the top of the hill, center to left. Although improvements were made to the landscaping, making Sitman a showplace for the division, cadre lived and taught under canvas as long as the ACTA operated north of the river. The Academy relocated to Camp Casey in January, 1972. The pictures below were taken in June, 1966.
