My name is Mark E. Spaner. I was with the Hdqt./Hdqts. Co. 4 Deuce mortar plt. 2/23rd. Inf. 2nd Inf. Div. August 30, 1966- September 30, 1967. Very HAPPY to hear from other IMJIN SCOUTS! My understanding, during my tour, was 13 missions into the Z to receive IMJIN SCOUT BADGE. Interested in reunions of SCOUTS and info or contact with fellow IMJIN SCOUTS esp. my tour and unit.

I was a 2LT with Bravo 2/23, WIA on 8/28/67 with the Division QRF when my track hit an anti-tank mine going after the NK's that raked the engineers at JSA with machinegun fire. For a month prior to that, we were sweeping the DMZ every other day and the officers were reconning the following day's area of operation on the in-between days. I finished my tour as the TOC Officer in June '68. I had arrived at the end of May '67 and quickly earned the Imjin Scout Award. I wonder whatever happened to it...probably went to the same place as the baseball cards and comic books I collected as a kid.
