PHOTO JOURNALIST MICHAEL SLEE

It is with great pleasure I present to you the photo collection of Michael Slee and Stan Eng. They are freelance photo journalists working on a Korean DMZ History special for the History Channel. Michael contacted me recently and asked if I could help put him in touch with veterans who would like to tell their story about their time on the DMZ. During our conversation, he mentioned that he had been in Korea this past spring doing his preliminary shoot. I suggested that we post some of the pictures he took on the trip and he obliged. They are exciting photos of Panmunjom and the DMZ and are a great tribute to the soldiers now manning "Freedom's Frontier." It is hard to believe that after 50 years there are still American soldiers on the DMZ. They are fewer in number for sure, as much of the former American zone was turned over to the South Koreans in the early nineties. But while they are fewer in numbers, anyone who was ever at Panmunjom will recognize the cold and hard as steel faces of the North Korean guards that they must face everyday. The more things change, the more things stay the same.

I think you will enjoy the professional photography and get a good idea about what things look like now on the DMZ.
