As members of the Ninth Infantry, we are justly proud of our history.
The Manchu Regiment is one of the oldest active Infantry Regiments in
the U.S. Army. Battle honors were earned by it in the War of 1812 and
are officially recorded for every major conflict since then. It is
indeed a privilege to belong to such a proud and distinguished unit.
We have an obligation to up-hold the traditions and excellent record of the Manchu Regiment. I therefore charge each of you to perform your duties in a manner that will facilitate accomplishment of this mission thus bringing great credit not only upon yourself but also upon all other fellow Manchus. I am proud to be your Battalion Commander. I sincerely hope that this yearbook will always serve as a reminder of jobs well done for the best unit in the U.S. Army - - the 2d Mechanized Battalion of the 9th Infantry (Manchu).
